Last year, more than 5,000 people
in the ACF Community signed an open letter to keep radioactive waste out of the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. A few weeks later our government announced the Flinders Ranges would stay waste-free. Now we need to speak out for the people of Kimba and the wider Eyre Peninsula – and for the hundreds of thousands of people living on the proposed transport routes. If thousands of us take action once again, we can help get another big win!
A new law would greenlight a thoughtless plan.
The radioactive waste in question is safely secured where it was made, at Lucas Heights nuclear facility in southern Sydney. The proposed Kimba site would have less security and less capacity to store the waste. Double-handling Australia’s worst radioactive waste doesn’t make sense.
